If you’re diving into the world of trading, understanding market trends is crucial. One tool that can really help you out is the Delta MFI Indicator for MetaTrader 5. This nifty little indicator takes a different approach by analyzing the difference between two Money Flow Index (MFI) oscillators, each with its own period. Let’s break down how you can leverage this tool to your advantage!

How the Delta MFI Works

The Delta MFI is designed for traders who want to compare two MFI indicators—one that moves quickly and one that’s more sluggish. By looking at their relative positions, you can get a clearer picture of market momentum. Plus, it highlights where the slower MFI stands in relation to a key level, usually set at 50.

Here’s the gist:

  • If the slow MFI is above 50 and the fast MFI is higher than the slow one, the histogram will show up in an overbought color.
  • If the slow MFI is below 50 and the fast MFI lags behind the slow one, the histogram will display an oversold color.

What’s great is that you can customize all the settings to fit your trading style. You can tweak the colors, the signal level (like the 50 mark), and the periods for both the fast and slow MFIs, even the type of histogram display.

Customizing Your Indicator

//+----------------------------------------------+
//| Indicator input parameters |
//+----------------------------------------------+
input TypeGraph TypeGr=Histogram; // Type of graph
input ENUM_APPLIED_VOLUME VolumeType=VOLUME_TICK; // Volume settings
//---
input uint MFIPeriod1=14; // Fast MFI Period
//---
input uint MFIPeriod2=50; // Slow MFI Period
//---
input uint Level=50; // Signal Level
//---
input int Shift=0; // Horizontal indicator shift in bars

The Delta MFI has five buffers at your disposal:

  • 0 — Main indicator buffer;
  • 1 — Color buffer with three color states;
  • 2 — Fast RSI;
  • 3 — Slow RSI;
  • 4 — Difference between the two MFIs (MACDMFI).
